Nyerere National Park covers 5% of Tanzania’s total area land area and is approximately 54,600sqkm. Nyerere National Park is Africa’s largest wild life reserve and Tanzania’s most extensive protected area. Nyerere National Park covers and provide shelter of large number of elephants, lions, big populations of buffaloes, Wild dogs, crocodiles and hippopotamus; in Rufiji River also has a lot of bird life. The reserve is named after our founding father of the Nation called Julius Kambarage Nyerere.
