8:00 AM – Departure from Dar es Salaam
A private driver will pick you up from your hotel in Dar es Salaam (or Julius Nyerere International Airport, DAR, if arriving early) for a scenic drive to Ruaha National Park (9-10 hours, approximately 630 km) in a luxury 4x4 Landcruiser with a pop-up roof (1 vehicle per 6-7 people). The route passes through Mikumi National Park and Iringa town, with a brief stop for photos of the Udzungwa Mountains. A packed gourmet lunch will be provided en route. Alternatively, you can opt for a short flight from Dar es Salaam to Msembe Airstrip in Ruaha (1.5 hours, additional cost), followed by a transfer to the lodge.

Frequently Asked Question
Ruaha has the largest concentration of elephants in East Africa with a population of around 10,000 of these gentle giants.
Many migratory birds visit the park. Other noted animals found in this park are East African cheetah, East African lion, African leopard, wild dog, spotted hyena, giraffe, hippopotamus, African buffalo, and sable antelope. Since 2005, the protected area is considered a Lion Conservation Unit.
The convergence of vegetation zone in this huge Park has resulted in unusual combination of animals ,Particularly Greater and Lesser Kudu, together with sable and roan antelopes in the Park a feature that is not found in other National Park in the country.
